Before and After…

July 2023—varnish repair to anonymous German Viola circa 1900. Before and after.

The viola had been played so much over the years that many places were worn all the way down to bare wood. The “after” pictures shows the wood protected by “new” varnish, to ensure that the instrument survives another 100 years, while tastefully showcasing the true age and patina of wear on the instrument.
